Merchant Outreach Programme 2007

Against the backdrop of stable economic growth and technological advances, recent years have seen an increase in merchants accepting credit cards as a preferred mode of payment. This provides not just more opportunities but also risk to businesses. Credit card fraud has been and will continue to be a scourge to businesses.

To raise awareness on the wide spectrum of credit card fraud, CAD jointly organised three sessions of a merchant outreach programme on 18 and 25 October 2007 with the Card Security Group of Singapore. Experts from CAD and the payment card industry were invited to share their expertise on current fraud trends, data security initiatives and security features of different payment card brands. The events attracted more than 800 participants from the business community and the banks.

In the dynamic payment card industry where new globalised trends and challenges surface at an unprecedented pace, the events serve as yet another effort by CAD to bring about a more secure environment for the merchants, in which they will feel safe to operate and expand their commercial inroads.
