| Q |
Can I choose to remain anonymous in my report? |
| A |
All reports to CAD are carefully reviewed by our officers. We will take into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case. Anonymous complaints may not contain sufficient information for our consideration. By giving their names and contact details, complainants will be at hand to provide the necessary information for our review of the case.
|
| Q |
What documents do I need to bring along to lodge a Police Report with CAD in person? |
| A |
You should bring along all supporting documents that are related to the complaint and personal identification documents.
|
| Q |
What happens after CAD receives a complaint? |
| A |
Upon receipt of the complaint, CAD will assess the complaint based on the information furnished by the complainant to establish if the alleged criminal offence falls within the purview of CAD.
If the information reveals that a criminal offence has been committed, police investigation will commence.
You will be provided with an update of our action within 7 days of your report. You will be given periodic updates after that.

|
| Q |
What happens if my report does not disclose a criminal offence? |
| A |
Our officers will inform you of the reasons preventing Police from investigating into your case. You may have to consider seeking legal advice on the appropriate course of action. You can log on to the Subordinate Courts website for more information on civil proceedings.
|
| Q |
What happens after CAD completes its investigation? |
| A |
If CAD finds sufficient evidence of a criminal offence, CAD will charge the suspect in Court. If the evidence does not reveal an offence, CAD will cease investigation. The Department will write to inform the complainant of the outcome of the investigation.
|
| Q |
How soon will the complainant know that the investigation is completed? |
| A |
This depends on the nature of the case and its consequences.
For instance, if there are several suspects involved or there is a series of crimes committed, the investigation may take a longer time to complete. Again, CAD will keep the complainant informed in writing of the outcome of the investigation.
CAD's timeline for investigation is between 3 to 6 months. We have met the target timeline in most of our cases. Any case that exceeds the timeline is closely monitored by the CAD Management so that the case is concluded as soon as possible.
