The Straits Times, Case File : Woman Jailed For Card Theft

A YOUNG woman who took another person's credit card and used it to make fraudulent purchases was jailed for 28months yesterday. Liew Yu Ning, 20, was working as a manicurist at Nail Passion in Clifford Centre when she took MsCareene Val Seetoh's DBS Visa credit card on March 1. That evening, she used the customer's card to buy a $648 mobile phone at Yishun Ring Road. The next day, she again used the card to pay for two more phones totalling $1,396 and a $335 watch. Liew spent a total of $4,708, which she has since paid back to the issuing bank. She admitted to five charges and had 24 others considered during sentencing.
