A RECEPTIONIST who lured her colleagues and friends into parting with their hard-earned money in a variety of fictitious investment schemes was jailed for 5 1/2 years yesterday. In all, Mary Tay, 40, cheated 11 victims of about $967,000 from 2002 to last year and was able to pay back only $352,706. Two weeks ago, she pleaded guilty to five counts of cheating four women and a man of between $61,500 and $350,640.
